That is true, Tom. Right now, HotSpots will function, position wise,
the same as User Windows in set files. I will (hopefully) be adding the
other feature that user windows have -- Auto Offsets. This will attempt
to provide a workaround for the scenario you describe below when you're
using a HotSpot that repositions the mouse. One of the exciting features
of the next version of HotSpot is that mouse position will become a
separate action, just like Execute Hotkey. HotSpots will no longer be
dependent on the mouse position, but rather will put the mouse where it
wants it (and maybe several different spots to perform several different
actions). Look for that in a future version near you.

Whether this flies or not is up to Aaron, but I just wanted to point
out something to keep in mind when sharing hotspots. All mouse
locations and most user windows (unless very well tweaked) will be
resolution dependent. So when you want to share with a friend or
distribute widely, make sure the resolution your hotspots were made
with is obvious. It will save a lot of headaches down the road.

Subject: Re: HotSpot - Feature requests
Aaron,
Just have this one question:
I realize, there is a button in the dialog, letting you export the
.ini file. I guess, this will export the full list of defined
HotSpots, for all the aplications you have installed, and defined
Hotspots for.
Now, I also do realize the great potentials of the HotSpot script. And
that is where my questions come in.
Let's say, that a user takes on himself, to make hotspot-definitions
for a given application. Recently, on the list, there was talked about
Cakewalk (Sonar), for one example. Wouldn't it be useful, if he then
could have exported only the HotSpots for that application, and maybe
had them saved in a file called Sonar.hsp, or something? The .hsp was
just an idea, making the filetype distinct; of course, .ini will work
as well, but might be confused with other .ini files. Further, to spin
on the qbove question: If now, he has exported these definitions, and
want to benefit the whole community of WE users, how about having a
spot on your webpage, where hotspots can be downloaded from? That way,
people who have got previously inaccessible software to work, with the
help of HotSpots, could have uploaded there work, and others
benefitted. You know, not everyone finds it easy to undertake the
great job of making hotspots, and might not understand enough
computing so as to actually do so. Yet, they would greatly benefit
from predefined hotspots. It would be enough here, to refer to the
great benefit of SC, and your site for user defined .set files.

Both editing and organizing actions will be addressed in the next
version.
Thanks,

OK, here is a couple of requests for further updates to the HotSpot
script:
1. Say you have defined a hotkey, but then realize, the delay
between the actions is a bit low. You easily can open HotSpot, and
choose to Edit the different hotspots. But there should be a way to
edit each action. The way it is now, you have no other choice but
deleting the action in question, and then add it again, with another
delay setting. Pretty much job, if you don't happen to hit the right
delay value at the first try... :)
2. You are to define a HotSpot that has to carry out several
actions. You go through it all, and then test your newly defined
HotSpot. Woopsy, you realize, you forgot one step - or action -
between action 8 and 9. Not a too big deal, if there only was nine
actions defined. You will have to delete entry 9, then add your
missing action, then re-add the 9th action from before. But what if
your list held 25 actions, and you missed soething between action 8
and 9? There really should have been choices for moving an action
Up/Down the list.
Hope these features can be implemented in later versions.
