Hi David, there are so many things you need to know in order to do this, you should really read the help file, and the wiki article I wrote on this at: http://www.gwmicro.com/mediawiki/index.php/User_Interface_Techniques the only question of yours which is not answered at all is about saving the results of the checkbox on your xml dialog: the xml only gets the info to your script. what you do with it after that point is all up to you, but nothing will happen automatically to save the results. how about starting with these sources of info and examples, and then come back with any further questions. hth, Chip
_____ From: David [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 5:25 PM To: Scripting List WE Subject: Help needed - Playing with my first xml OK, I finally decided to try building a script, making use of an xml instruction, or two. Could someone please, help me get started. Here is what I want to perform. Let's say, I want a checkbox with the text (label) "Do you want to have fun?". What would be the xml instruction, that I need to write. Only need that one line, or so, that is needed to do this one checkbox. And then over to my script. What would be the modified version of this code: If HaveFun = Checked Then Speak "You said yes." else Speak "You said no." End If Do I have to make the script save the setting of the checkbox, i.e in an .ini file, or is it enough to let the xml take care of it? I did create the script, by help of the script Framework. Thanks for all feedback. Sure I can get this sorted out, if only I get a bit of start help. _____ I am using the Free version of SPAMfighter <http://www.spamfighter.com/len> .
