I haven't followed this thread very closely, so I don't know exactly
what all is in play, but couldn't you just set up an FTP server for the
class? Its instructor could add files that everyone can read or copy to
their local drives as necessary. You could give students write access to
the FTP as well, but if I were doing it I'd rather them send material
through the instructor to avoid overclutter in the workspace.
