I can't imagine someone developping a Window Eyes app that doesn't have access to Windows. I do most of my development work in Linux, but I switch to Windows for Wineyes apps just because it isn't practical to be developing on a platform where you can't try/debug your software. Lacking Wineyes' functionality in WINE, this means I develop in Windows for Wineyes apps. With Vinux and Orca''s rapid improvement many blind users are doing the Linux thing, but I don't think any of the exclusive Linux users care about Window Eyes or its apps.

Although Windows is by far the most widely used OS, You might be aware that a good amount (me not knowing the exact number) of blind users, that lean more and more to Linux. Not because that is anything greater, but due to all the high-pricing and all the copyright/blahblah from Microsoft, and assistive companies like Scentific and GW as well as the rest of that gang. When recently asking for Linux users among the blind, I was surprised of the great response; leading me to believe the number of Linux users is fair enough to be considered. To what extend your development ever will be possible for a cross-platform environment between Linux and Windows, I do have no idea. Of course, there is emulators for Linux, that let the Linux user run a windows software; but I have no idea if the service would be of interest for Linux users.

Hi: Can anyone give me a ballpark guess on how many blind
scriptors do not use or have access to a Windows Operating System
    for App development?
I would guess it would be less than 10 percent but I have never
talked allot to non U.S. computer users. The ones I have talked to
used Windows but I understand other Operating Systems were, about
5 or 10 years ago, popular in China and some other countries.
So, if you can, give me a ballpark idea of the concentration of
Windows users abroad... I might develop a AutoLanguageTranslator
and am trying to decide whether to use an existing code base, with
permissions, or create a new .net App from scratch. The .net
version is what I work in and would offer some significant
features not available in a vBS script without major headaches -
if they could be implemented at all.
If most of us use Windows Operating Systems then I will lean
twoard the .net approach if I can get it implemented.
If not, it is what it is and I will consider the alternative.
