Hi all,

sometime back, someone at GW pointed out that some of the names for apps
which we had chosen could be better. For instance: instead of my app being
named "MS Word" (which really didn't describe anything about what it did,
but only named the program it worked with), a name such as "Word Advanced
Features" would be more descriptive, and better for allowing other "Word"
app developers to also name their app something relating to Word.

A discussion followed re the problems of renaming an app already in place,
and the conclusion arrived at was unfortunately, there's no simple way to
rename an existing app and have it be completely transparent to the current
users.

I have now added a new wiki article entitled "How to Rename an Existing
App", which details the approach I used for my Word Advanced Features app;
including an app which can be included in your .wepm file, to aid in the
renaming process.

This seemed to work well for me, with no complaints from end users as the
renaming took place.

As always, the article is open to all, for anyone who'd like to
improve/correct it, or add other approaches. Or you could just send me any
email if you'd just rather let me know of any needed corrections and I'l be
glad to make them.

Obviously, one other approach is to just tell users of your app that they
must uninstall it, and download and install the newer version!
