Jeff,

To resume a file once it has been paused, simply call the Play method, and it will pick up from where you paused it.

Calling Invalidate with your sound's ID will indeed unload it from memory. Remember that with VBScript, using parenthesies on function calls with no return value is, for whatever reason, invalid syntax.

Steve

Thanks Steve. I see how to play and pause.
How do I resume after a pause? I tried pause and play and resume but
these didn't work.
Also, when I am done with the sound, I think I would use
SOAudioKit.Invalidate(MySoundID)
To get the sound file out of memory. Is this correct?
Thanks,

Subject: Re: playing music with audioKit

Jeff,

Because this is a shared object, the only way to keep track of your own
sounds is by a number which the Create and Load methods return. Change
your snippet to the following, and it should work.

Dim mySoundID
mySoundID = SOAudioKit.Load("AudioKitTest.wav")
SOAudioKit.Play mySoundID

If you want to pause or stop the playback, call
SOAudioKit.Pause mySoundID
or
SOAudioKit.Stop mySoundID

Steve

I see how to get the shared object and play a tone with the audioKit,
but could we get a working example of how to play, pause, and stop a
file from disk.

Using SOAudioKit for my shared object, I tried:

SOAudioKit.Load("AudioKitTest.wav")

SOAudioKit.Play("AudioKitTest.wav")

This did not work.

I need more info about using the ID and I guess a long variable for
the
ID-if this is necessary for playing a file.

Thanks,
