If you'd like to be the first to try this .

I've added a new app named Speech_Fix.

It improves English speech by processing ordinal oddities such as 1 followed
by s t into the word first, 2 followed by n d into second, etc.

(this requires the Window-Eyes setting for "spell alpha-numeric" to be set
to "off", and "numbers" to "on", in order to work properly).

It also attempts to handle abbreviations where the context determines what
should be spoken. Examples of these would include the abbreviation of s t,
which could be street or saint. The same is true of d r, which can be
doctor or

drive, and even rd which could be part of an ordinal such as third, or the
abbreviation of road.

And . it should be able to do this without any noticeable impact on the
speech responsiveness.

It's not always perfect, and some programs don't seem to create output in
long lines of speech, so it does do poorly in those cases. Please write me
and tell me if you like it and keep using it, or find that something it does
makes

 you stop using it.

If you have suggestions for unusual written English oddities which this app
might be able to improve the speech for, please do write to me at the email
provided.

Thanks to Munawar Bijani for his DotFix app, which was the idea for this
app. I recommend you also try the DotFix app, as it allows words which are
contractions with apostrophes, to be spoken properly even when you have all
punctuation set to "on".
