Want The Extended Dictionary
In Your Native Language?
The Author of this package, wants to welcome any fully working
translations of the contents, into the languages supported by
Window-Eyes. As per date, the package ships in
- US English;
- Dutch, Netherlands;
and,
- Norwegian.
A great thanks goes to the people who has contributed so far.
Still, there may be many benefits of having the package made available
for even more languages. Not only would that mean a native user
interface, including all the dialogs, menus and messages - but it also
could mean good working Dictionaries right in the particular language
from the moment of installation. It even may encourage more users to
start using the package, thereby greatly benefitting from its powerfulness.
Since each Dictionary file can be taylored directly to one special
synthesizer or voice, or even to a given software, it is of further
interest to have Dictionaries supporting the locale voices of your
language. This will give the better pronunciation, and may enhance your
productivity. And, by helping out in translating, you will also help out
other users in your language.
Why Not Just Use
An Electronic Translation Service?
No electronic service can replace a human. In many cases, the
translation has to be taylored to the actual functionality of the
software, and it has to be in a form that is simple to understand. This
due to the app aiming to help even the very newbie user. Therefore, it
is important that the translator knows the software, and tests the new
features presented, in order to ensure that the translated text does
make sense. Based on this, it is not possible to use any electronic
service for a complete translation, and it is not encouraged with
translators who only know a language to a certain extent.
Who Can Translate?
The Author of the Extended Dictionary, welcomes anyone to participate.
Still, you may want to pay attention to the following few requirements:
- You should either be natively speaking the target language yourself,
or at least have a thorough and fluent knowledge of the language.
- It is preferable, that you are willing to translate also future
versions of the package. This will demand you staying in contact with
the App Developer.
- You should be willing to cooperate with the App Developer, in
testing and confirming the translations to be full-fledged, throughout
the beta-cycles of the upcoming releases of the package.
- As part of the translation work, you will be implemented in the
Beta-Tester's Group, and you will need to be aware of the nature of
beta-testing new software.
- Although not a real requirement, it is recommendable if you have
adequate computer knowledge.
- Users with extended knowledge inside other educations - like music,
medicine or the like, might also be encouraged. These can be of great
help in ensuring proper working entries in the shipping set of
dictionaries.
How To Participate?
If you feel you have something to contribute, please contact the Author
by Email, and tell your language and qualifications.
You will receive an agreement, which you then will confirm. Once you
have confirmed the agreement, you will be implemented in the
Beta-Tester's Group, and will receive future Beta versions of the app.
Along with the Beta software, you also will receive the material that
needs translation. You translate the stuff, and return it by Email to
the Author. From there, it will be implemented in further upgrades of
the Extended Dictionary package.
Although the material is a bit extensive at the moment, once you have
done away with the current strings and files, future versions will only
require you to translate a few strings at a time. In general, it will
only mean a few minutes of extra work for you, for later releases.
REMARKS:
Participating as a Beta-Tester, or a translator, will NOT entitle you of
any further ecconomic compensation, or extended rights. You get the
chance of testing out the newest versions, and you can help other users
in your language. But you will have to agree, this project is on a
volunteer basis, and Copyrighted by the author.
