This is known as "native retweets", which is already in the development
release of gwibber, since 3.1.2. Thanks for the bug report.

Bug description:
A lot of twitter clients doesn't show the the retweeted-message from
retweets, they show the original message, often with an big logo from
the original poster and a small logo from the retweeter.
you find the original message (without "RT @xyz: ") in the datastream
status->retweeted_status->text.
I love this feature, cause often they cut the links at the end of the
message...
