It appears like this issue has been fixed in the last update.
Before updating, I was experiencing the same problem:
Typed characters would take up to almost a second to be displayed. positioning
the cursor in the text was equally
slow.
When attempting to post anything, gwibber's CPU usage skyrocketed, also causing
Xorg to use a lot of CPU, making not only gwibber, but also the whole GUI very
unresponsive.
On a not too high performance CPU (Intel i5 U 520, ULV at 1.07GHz) this
made gwibber unusable.
After the update, gwibber's CPU usage consists of a short burst at
startup and an almost unnoticably short burst when opening the update
status text box. No usability issues due to high CPU load so far.
Gwibber version: 3.2.0.1 on Ubuntu 11.10
Thanks for fixing it :)
