I've tried killing gwibber; a killall doesn't work; there's a daemon
that keeps respawning them, too. I have to show a list of those
processes and then kill each one by number. :(

And purging is even more useless; just like Evolution *used* to be, trying to
remove gwibber means removing Ubuntu-desktop.

Did you see the screen capture? I have a handful of useless icons at the
top....and nothing more. I can't pick accounts, or do anything with individual
messages, but open a browser to them. This isn't how it used to operate. And
it really bothers me that the version I get (and replace the way I do all
software, through the package system) doesn't seem to change the version
in-use. I can't tell, however; there's nothing but some useless icons. :(

I'm really put-out by Onery Ocelot. Before I upgraded I was running
Unity with no bugs. Now I have half-screen orange "meshes" that cover
the screen when I switch windows. I have the top bar optionally staying
up there when I'm deep in XBMC, watching shows.

It just feels like Ubuntu is coming apart! Surely it's not just
me...I've been installing Ubuntu for *years*.

Title:
  Gwibber nightmare (Sorry, keep reading)

Status in Gwibber:
  New

Bug description:
I'm trying to get along. I've gotten used to Unity (under Natty), I've put
aside my older-style ways and am moving right in on the new style that seems
specific to Ubuntu. And part of that is Gwibber. In the past it's been clumbsy
and awkward, but could potentially made to work, and so I'm trying to do just
that, as I've just upgraded to "Onery Ocelot".

Gwibber comes up with a line of icons across the top, none of which are
helpful, none of which respond to a right-click, either. I have no other icons,
the messages just scroll by and if I get it to do anything, it brings up the
entire browser again. I thought this was just the exception: Gwibber was meant
to allow you to "peek" at the feed, instead of going to the browser. (?) I can
barely tell that it knows I'm even pointing to any given message.

So I see a message from some friendly types. They suggest I use a PPA. I do,
I upgrade, and yeah! NOW I'M RUNNING VERSION 3.3.0 THAT ACCORDING TO THE
GWIBBER PAGE DOESN'T EVEN EXIST YET....and...still...no icons. Still no
functionality.

So I'm thinking maybe there's something fodding the configuration. Googling
"how to delete Gwibber History" seems an ordeal, and there's no .gwibber file
(according to the document) I even went so far as to PURGE the thing, to which
I was told I could do so, but I'd have to also remove Ubuntu-Desktop.

I can't seem to get it to turn off, it pops up with notifications all the
time, AND attempts to turn it off have failed.

I *REALLY* hope I just have a copy that's on acid; this is less function than
when I saw it under Lucid-or-so.

Can you point me to a way to clean-slate the thing, without formatting my
drive? (If I do, I think it'll be reloaded with Mint.) Grrr.
