Hi,

You are right about most of the stuff you've said.
The problem is that when we're no longer studying, when you have
someone bossing you around telling you what needs to be done and you
have a limited time-frame, you have to start choosing where you spend
your time and while it may be interesting to now what designers are
doing behind the scenes, you may not have the time to do it, either
because you need to study a few design patterns, because you need to
learn how to use a new orm framework, or because you're simply swamped
in work and have no time at all to "waste" on something that can be
done on its own without major drawbacks.

I miss the time when I was a student and could investigate stuff like
you're doing it right now :)
