Dear all: I have data from an optical measurement that I want to import into Gwyddion.
The measurement times and the fast and slow motion of the scan are completely uncoordinated. Consequently the lines are of slightly different length and there are garbage measurements during the fast return to the start of a line. For example one set has 80 scan lines with each between 199 and 205 measurement Z-points. Some times, I have double, triple or quadruple measurements on one position. Gwyddion could just ignore the extra measurements. At this time I can import the data as XYZ columns, if I trim manually all scan lines to the length of the minimum scanline length, for example no line longer than 199 measurements. Additionally, I also manually have to go through the array and have to remove all duplicate data. This will not be feasible for any larger scans. Ideally, I want to import the whole set and then correct for the X-Jitter inside Gwyddion and remove the bad data. A) Can I import uneven scan lines? Form the documentation it seems possible but when I try Gwyddion crashes. B) Is there any way to correct for the X-axis jitter? Basically shifting data slightly on the X axis to minimize the sum of all differences to the previous line? (Instead of shifting data in Z direction as done for regular line corrections.) C) Can I add a brief header to my XYZ columns to select units and Calibration factors? What would be a good format? I could provide example files.
