I don't know much about the Mac specifics but this is certainly odd. I suppose you get the same error when you just run ‘make’ because getting it only on ‘make install’ makes no sense. Could you please post (or send me) config.log? Do you have pygtk and everything else from macports installed to the standard /opt/local?
