Further on my problem of finding the heading of a line, I was not looking and thinking hard enough, I missed seeing that Regress_VVU would be helpful in my problem. Maybe I'm being to picky, but I still haven't found the EXACT answer to my question.
I want to know the EXACT heading of a flight line; the same heading that PROFILE.GX uses. A simple (y2-y1),/(x2-x1) using the endpionts of a line won't work because of on and off line turns and cross track error. PROFILE.GX says it uses an average heading and plots the profile perpendicular to the heading it determines. I tried using REGRESS_VVU to try to find this average heading, plotted a line using the mx+b line obtained from REGRESS_VVU, and this line did not match up with PROFILE.GX(i.e. it was not EXACTLY perpendicular to the profile). Since all points are weighted equally, shouldn't regress give the average heading? Or can someone see a flaw in my logic? Aaron Balasch Sky Hunter Technologies Inc. Suite 101, 1725 10th Avenue S.W.
