First, we had 7 riders show up at Ravenstone this morning and we did 44 miles in the sunshine and crisp air. (Matt, the Master Mechanic from the Trek store was there, which is always nice because he is a strong rider, but, more importantly we do not have to worry about breakdowns! On the bike, anyway. Hey, Tony, he was sporting a Simple Green jacket! What is the penalty for that?) We finished at 19+ and I think that everyone got in a great workout. The 7 of us burned about 2000 calories so we are in good shape to chow. (As I write this Grace just called out: "It's going in...!", which means that the turkey is in oven...I am already hungry with 3 1/2 hours to go...) Now, to the ride for Saturday: The Admiral is recovering well, and Number One is away for the weekend so it has fallen upon me to post our Saturday ride (thanks Ed for offering to post, if needed...). I guess you could call me the Chief Petty Officer. Weather updates will be at 7, 8, and 9am, on Saturday morning, if needed. The ride is a go until the final weather update at 9am, unless it is quite obvious by 7am. Ok. Enough on that. Here are the specs.: Day/Date: Saturday, Nov. 29 Time: 10:00am sharp Place: Pleasant Union Elementary School (alias PU) Distance: 40-something Pace: 18-19 Course: Northwest Passage, sort of... Because of the holiday and many riders being away or committed to family affairs it would be very helpful to hear from those who plan on riding. A "maybe" is good enough. It is always a bit more motivating knowing who else is riding, or, at least I think so. Thank you for your kind consideration of this request. I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving. The ride Saturday could be called the Maintain Don't Gain ride. So get out there and exercise. Rick and Grace The course: Right out of PU Right on Mt. Vernon Mt. Vernon to Carpenter Pond (L) Carpenter Pond to Coley (R) Coley to Kemp (L) Kemp to 98 (L) 98 to Patterson (R) Patterson to Cheek (R) Cheek/Old Weaver to New Light (R) New Light/Six Forks to Pleasant Union (R) Back to school --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
