i was riding far enough in the back with mike w. to watch the crash happen and as i saw it wendy was just reacting to what the riders directly in front of her were doing (she was not just stopping in the lane in a paceline). that is, the guys in front of her chose not to go off the road nor ride into the hole but rather at a very slow pace squeeze together into the small area of our lane that was paved and not be hit by the oncoming car.
as the pace slowed, due to the road conditions, the bunching up in front of wendy caused the chain reaction/domino effect to occur which in turn caused wendy to break. because of the choices made up front, because of the chain reaction, because wendy breaked, ed had no choice but to go into wendy's rear wheel. it was an unfortunate accident. thank goodness no one was seriously hurt. KV, thank-you for making this phone call to the durham DOT. stay alert, stay safe and have fun riding. maria On Mon, Feb 9, 2009 at 12:46 PM, <[email protected]> wrote: > > THANK YOU very much for getting the ball rolling on this problem. > ------Original Message------ > From: Kv Dey lll > Sender: [email protected] > To: North Raleigh Cyclists (Gyros) > ReplyTo: [email protected] > Sent: 9 Feb 2009 12:20 > Subject: [Gyros: 12366] Re: today's ride and pothole lookout > > > I called the Durham road guys @ 477-2814 talk to Stan > said that he get someone on it > the are out filling pot holes today > > Kv > > > > > Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T > > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
