G-Men & Women, Weather dosen't look very good for Saturday. After such beautiful weather all week. Go figure. I wanted to start increasing the mileage to especially with the Frostbite Tour coming up in 2 weeks and our mountain ride in 6 weeks.
Well, be sure to check your emails by 7am on Saturday for a weather update. I'll post the ride anyway. This should be an exciting route utilizing a combination of Mt. Tirzah and Snow Hill with some new roads that we can explore. We will also have the option of cutting it a bit shorter, from 70 miles to 58 miles, depending on how everyone feels. SATURDAY RIDE (2/14): (A GROUP - Tony) MEETING PLACE: Ravenstone Plaza - (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 2/14 @ 9am RIDE DISTANCE: A Group (58 or 70miles) PACE: 18-19mph ROUTE: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2550193 CUE SHEET: See Above (B GROUP - Maria) Maria will post her ride. SUNDAY RIDE (2/15): Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9:30am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) Mike's Gyro Touring Ride. He will post all the info for this ride. All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm Thanks, Tony --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
