G's, Wow, what a terrible week weather wise. Felt like I was back in New York. This stuff is very typical in the Northeast and I do not miss it one bit.
(For the A's & A-'s) Both Bert and I will not be leading Saturday so we have left you guys in the capable hands of Smith and Tom. Here is the schedule: SATURDAY RIDE (11/14) (A & A- GROUPS - Smith/Tom) MEETING PLACE: Shady Grove Church - (Directions: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3195540) TIME: Saturday 11/14 @ 8:30am *(NEW START TIME) RIDE DISTANCE: 65 miles PACE: 19-20mph CUE SHEET: See Attached NOTES: Open Play will be: 1. Rougemont Road to the break (Open Play means that there are no rules - every man for himself - we regroup at the end of each stretch). OTHER NOTES: We ride and work together as a group. We encourage county line sprints. We DO NOT wait for dropped riders so look at the map and/or cue sheets to figure out where you are. We DO stop for mechanicals. (B GROUPS - Maria/Leslie) Information to come SUNDAY RIDE (11/15): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride MEETING PLACE: Blue Jay Point (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Sunday 11/15 @ 8:30 am DISTANCE: 30 miles ROUTE: TBD PACE: 14-16mph - No drop but you MUST be able to maintain the minimum pace. MONDAY RIDE: Hal's Ride is cancelled for the season. TUESDAY RIDE (11/17): Rick's Ride leaves from Tony's House *(NEW STARTING LOCATION) TIME @ 6pm *(NEW START TIME) DISTANCE: 25 miles PACE @ 17-18mph This is now a night ride so lights are absolutely required. Wednesday will be used as an alternate ride day if the weather is bad on Tuesday. Map to my house: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3231114 WEDNESDAY: Andy's Ride is cancelled for the season. THURSDAY: Dave's Ride is cancelled for the season. All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
