Subject: [Gyros: 14972] Tour de Cure - Training Ride & Main Ride
Fellow Gyros,
I have not been riding for some time and I do not know many of the new
Gyros on the block ! I am back in training which is killing me but
you will see more of me in the coming weeks. - ( probably horizontal
through exhaustion ! )
I have spoken with Tony and the St Paddy's Tour de Cure Training Ride
is scheduled for Sat 13th Mar leaving from the TREK Store. There are
two ride distances 32 miles leaving at 9.00am & 64 miles leaving at
8.00am registration 30 mins before.
Traditionally the GYROS lead out and host this ride. There is food
and beverages on route and various stops and also food and drink
available at the end of the ride. The GYROS Club also profits from
this ride. Please do your best to come along and support the TRAINING
RIDE Here is the LINK :

FREE REGISTRATION - You can sign up for the Main ride for free on the
day. normally $25 registration.
The main Tour de Cure (TdC) ride is on 5th and 6th June leaving from
Cary to Southern Pines and back again. Ride distances of 75 and 100
miles are available on each day. There is also a family ride just in
Cary on the first day. If you want to JOIN the GYROS Team on this
ride here is the LInk:
http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/TDC154358030?team_id=457888&pg=team&fr_id=6858
I have ridden for the Tour for the last 3 years and last years ride to
Southern Pines was just a great route, fast, scenic and reasonably
flat. I was told a total of 2300 vertical ft over the route.each
way. There is plenty of accommodation and a fanatastic party with
food and drinks on the Sat evening.
The min amount to raise is only $175 and with free registration that's
not so onerous. The accommodation is very cheap and if you share a
room even better !
This ride is for all diabeteic sufferes and in particular the YOUNG
people who have tremendous problems to overcome.
I know we all have lots of commitments, but tis is a great cause and
a great ride, please join the GYROS TEAM and support the Cure.
You will also get a chance to meet and ride with the "CHEETAHS"
Diane, Karen and Cecilia - sustained raw power and awesome
acceleration from these girls - Catch them if you can !
Call me on my cell 919 609 7045 for more Info.
Hope to see you all on the Training Ride 13th March and also on the
the Cure ride 5th and 6th June !!
thanks in advance
Derek (The Paddy)
