For other B-riders who may be interested, I am doing the Ride for the Rock
tomorrow. It starts at 9 am from Whole Foods at Waverly Place in Cary. It is
a fund-raiser to benefit the Brain Injury Association of North Carolina. The
Rock is Mark Ornitz who crashed a few years ago at a bike race in
Winston-Salem and suffered a severe brain injury.
There is a 50k and 100k route, fully supported. Day-off registration is
$20.00. http://www.capcycling.org/events-rideForRock.php
Sorry for the late notice. For advanced notice, I plan to do the St. Paddy's
ride next Saturday from the Trek store. Hope my fellow B-riders will join me
in support of the American Diabetes Association and the Tour de Cure. This
is my sixth year riding in the Tour. More on that later.
I hope everyone has fun riding this weekend! The first signs of spring are
here.

MONDAY RIDE:

TUESDAY RIDE:

WEDNESDAY:
Andy's Ride is cancelled for the season.
THURSDAY:
Dave's Ride is cancelled for the season.
All ride locations can be found on our website @
http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm
THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a
target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter
distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at
an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in
the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make
your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the
first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace.
The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph
pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a
16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group
to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested
that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above).
Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but
there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It
is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short
hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be
affected.
