Our final training ride had myself, Bert, Logan, Ty, and, a new participant,
Jacqui. (It is always nice having someone from the finer sex on a Tuesday
ride.) There were no repeats from last week's ride...where were you Tom, Ivan,
and Steve?...

Having Logan on the ride assured us that the pace would be a bit faster, and,
it most certainly was. Averaging the computers we ended up with 19.6 avg. for
31 miles. A bit quicker than advertised, but we were together at the finish, so
it turned out ok.

The only incident on the ride worthy of reporting (it was just a nice,
uneventful, albeit windy, ride for the most part) was having the fast boys from
the Kicks ride overtake us near the end of our stretch up Burton. Their entire
group went by (I noted a few Gyros in that group), and when we turned onto
Cheek there was Bert latching on to that fast moving train! Ty, Jacqui, Logan
and I struggled to get Bert's wheel, and, since the Kicks group was pushing
somewhere around 30mph it was best that we get our small group back together
and ride at a more sustainable pace!

Next week begins this ride in earnest. I will be posting a description of the
ride format later in the week so that everyone who wishes to join us will
understand how we ride on Tuesdays and can decide if it is a good fit for your
riding desires.

Please try to join us. The rides will be fast (by Gyro standards, that is!),
and challenging. The course will always be the same, and it is never too far
from home base, so we can all navigate back if the legs aren't there on any
given night.

In good health,

Rick
