I'm wondering how Rick plans to provide a Tuesday night weekly ride
summary given he fell culprit to rule #43: "We don't stop for
mechanicals". As were were riding along Bert asked: "Hey, where's
Rick?". No one seemed to know exactly when he fell off the group with a
dropped chain. Rick: Did you make it to Coley?
I'd have to say this ride exemplified a group of riders
working toward a common goal and with Tom's encouragement during a few
sections saying we are on a record setting pace, the group seemed very
interested in working together. In my opinion, we had just the right
size group for the rotating pace line... enough to get rest and shelter
from the wind, but small and organized enough to keep the pace and
rotation moving.
Other than Logan's sprint off the front to win the Doc Nichols
sprint line (someone ought to mention to Logan we aren't doing the
sprint/points this year) the group stayed together and worked together
marvelously. When I turned on to Hickory Grove Church from Carpenter
Pond, my GPS indicated 22.5mph and after the cool down on Hickory, we
finished at 22.4 mph where our illustrious leader, Rich, was waiting at
the Kix66 gas station with more grease on his nose than his chain.
I think we need to add another rule to Rick's ride: An official
statement that the ride ends at Hickory Grove Church (unless Rick plans
to re-introduce sprint/point zones?) and the ride in from there is
cool-down. We seem to have a lack of understanding on exactly where the
ride ends.
