Gyro Nation.

I have been out of town for a bit, but I am back. This means that long, drawn
out emails and ride reports are back in vogue. Here are the specs:
Day: Tuesday, May 4
Time: 5:45pm
Place: St. Francis
Distance: 32 miles
Pace: 22-23
Course: Standard (Everyone should be familiar with our Standard course. If you
are not, please email me privately and I will send you the route.)
I received a brief ride report from Tony on last Tuesday's ride, but he did not
share specifics so I do not know how fast you all went. It is my guess that it
was 22 something, or Tony would have brought it to my attention. I truly
thought that when I returned you guys would be going so fast that it would be
best if I just rode SAG! I am anxious to ride once again to see just how fast
the group has gotten (or, slow...), and when I will get dropped.

This is a good segue for posting my ride objective once again:

Rick's ride is designed to use the collective energies of our strongest riders
to go as fast as possible for 32 miles.
Any tactic utilized during the ride that is detrimental to this philosophy is
discouraged. It is not forbidden, it is just frowned upon by the group. If you
choose to attack, please make certain that you are strong enough to make this
an effective tactic. My rules state that once we hit Patterson any rider can go
on the attack, or, conversely, any rider can choose not to pull or do any work
at all.
Just keep in mind that what you do should be for the good of the ride
objective. And, the group. I am not saying that our strongest riders have to
hold back. I am not saying that at all. If you are strong enough to attack and
stay away (which means that you are either not caught at all, or, you are not
reeled back until the final miles...), please do. But, if you attack and you
are reeled back in within a couple of miles please be honest with yourself and
don't go again. (You can answer other attacks, of course...) Take longer pulls,
or, whatever helps the ride objective.
Ok. Enough on that.
I only have one more thing to add: Let's ride fast Tuesday!
Rick
