While traveling down Carpenter Pond with the group, I noticed shiny objects on the road. After making the right on Coley, I noticed a tack in my tire. Mark E., who was behind me, have five tacks in his front tire. We walked back to Carpenter Pond and found hundreds of tacks in the road. A guy from Lanarc Nursury (which is near the corner of Carpenter Pond and Coley) was there and said he saw a silver BMW traveling westbound on Carpenter Pond pull into the oncoming lane of traffic, open his passenger door and throw out a large number of tacks into the westbound lane of traffice. He said it was clearly done intentionally. He was not able to get a license plate number. Based on the timing, it must have occurred just before the group came through.
With the help of several people from Lanarc and several neighbors, we picked up all the tacks - there were easily 300-400 tacks. We thanked everyone for their help and went on our way.
