G's,
Hal & Tina have asked that I forward this to the Gyros.
He is now back online. Welcome back Hal!
Tony
To All,
My lovely wife Tina is typing this note for me (by the way she does
everything for me) so, of course, this e-mail will be monitored for
quality
control.
I would like to thank all of you for thinking of me. Your support
through your emails, phone calls, visits; thoughts and prayers have been
most encouraging and welcome.
I would like to share with you that I have absolutely no memory of the
accident. Some of the moments I do recall... were upon regaining
consciousness and someone was making sure that I remained laying down as
the
ambulance approached. I also recall that Carol came along for the ride
(some people will do anything for a cheep thrill--especially to see my
clothes cut off). Another highlight was the paramedic raising my right arm
to administer morphine only to discover that my right clavicle was broken.
I
am sure my wince of pain can still be heard to the county line. I was
taken
to Duke's Hospital emergency room for observation and assessment of damage
including several CT scans... where after several hours of some really
good
morphine and some better stuff (that I cannot remember the name of) was
eventually admitted and then released late Sunday afternoon.
So the bottom line is that I have a concussion on the right side of head
and two points of internal bleeding on the left side, severe head pain,
one
broken right clavicle and some really juicy road rash. There was some
additional excitement Thursday evening when I fell unconscious and Tina
had
to call the paramedics. My doctor says that it will take between 1-6
months
for my head injury to be fully restored. Amazingly enough, my bike
received
less damage than I did and the best part of all of this is that Tony
cleaned
my bike!!!
Again, Tina and I extend our warmest and sincere thoughts of
appreciation
to all that helped on the ground to get me to the hospital, making the
call
to Tina and all your thoughts and prayers.
Hal and Tina
