Gyromancers, A lot of ride leaders will be missing in action this weekend. For the A ride on Saturday, Tom Fissel has graciously taken over the lead. He has already posted his ride but I've copied again below. (NOTE the 7:30am start time).
Both Leslie and Diana will be gone but Leslie will make it easy for anyone who wants to lead by posting a route for you to follow. Her information will come. This is so all you B riders can still ride. Just because Leslie and Diana are not there is no excuse not to ride. She is making it easy for you. All anyone needs to do is take control. Now for the schedule. (WAIVER IS ATTACHED) SATURDAY RIDE (6/12) (A GROUP - Tom) MEETING PLACE: St. Francis of Assisi (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 6/12 @ 7:30am RIDE DISTANCE: 77 miles (RS @ 38 miles in Franklinton, another if needed for cooling.) OTHER NOTES: This one is important - WE RIDE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP. We encourage county line sprints. We DO NOT wait for dropped riders so look at the map and/or cue sheets to figure out where you are. We DO stop for mechanicals. (A- GROUP - Kim/Ed) Information to come (B GROUP - Leslie/Diana) Information to come SUNDAY RIDE (6/13): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 8:30am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) 2. MONDAY RIDE (6/14): Hal's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant Road & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 25-30 miles. PACE @ 19mph (Because of the unfortunate accident that Hal was in last Saturday, he will not be leading this ride. As Hal has stated before, most of you know this route. Please continue the ride as if Hal were there. If anyone else wants to lead, please let the group know. Hopefully, Hal will be back up front taking charge as before, in the not too distant future. We wish him well.) TUESDAY RIDE (6/15): Rick's Ride leaves from St. Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE: 31-32 miles PACE @ 21-23mph WEDNESDAY (6/16): Andy's Training Ride leaves from St. Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE: 30-40 miles. PACE @ 21mph (Controlled Pace) THURSDAY (6/17): Dave's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 32 miles. PACE @ 18mph. This is a CONTROLLED pace, and a DROP ride, so make sure you are able to average the above posted pace. All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
