by DAVID HERLIHY the author of THE LOST CYCLIST: THE EPIC TALE OF AN AMERICAN ADVENTURER AND HIS MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE. In 1892, Frank Lenz set off on a 20,000 mile world tour on the forerunner of the modern bike. He never completed the trip. Author David Herlihy will discuss and sign copies of his new book, The Lost Cyclist: The Epic Tale of an American Adventurer and His Mysterious Disappearance, about Frank Lenz, a young man who left Pittsburgh in the spring of 1892 to cycle around the world. Herlihy will give a digital slideshow of photographs Lenz took before his world tour (on an old-fashioned “high-wheeler”) and during his trip through the U.S., Japan, China, Burma, India, and Persia. Herlihy is also the author of Bicycle: The History.
