Thanks Joel and I'm glad you had fun. Bert and I were pleased to see a nice
turnout too - 8 riders.
Please send me all the details of your Tuesday ride and I'll include it in
the weekly ride schedule next week.

Tony,
Thanks for the great ride tonight. A great 16.5 average.
Please do me a favor next week, please post the Tuesday Slower Ride on
Tuesdays on the Gyros weekly schedule. Thanks again for your experience
and instruction today. I learned some much this evening as far as pace
line, downhill vs. inclines.
thanks to you and Burt.

G-Men & Women,
Before I get into the rides, I want to bring to everyone's attention a
little reminder and it's an important reminder. If you ride with a group
that has a slower pace then what you typically ride, PLEASE ride at that
groups posted pace. I know it's hard to back off when all that
testosterone is kicking in but all you are doing is making it hard for
the rest of the group to keep up and, more importantly, you are p***ing
off the ride leader and if the ride leader ain't happy, I'm not happy.
So, please remember this if you haven't heard it before - WE RIDE AND
WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP! Thank you and let's stay safe out there.
(WAIVER IS ATTACHED - Please sign and give to your ride leader).

All ride locations can be found on our website @
http://www.raleighgyros.com/locions.htm
THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a
target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter
distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at
an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in
the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make
your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the
first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace.
The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph
pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a
16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group
to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested
that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above).
Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but
there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It
is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short
hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be
affected.
