Someone asked me for this route recently. This is a route my coach has
ridden recently down to wilmingotn/Wrightsville beach.

The route is below. I think Marty's ride was 134 miles and he is starting
from Cary as you can tell.

I know he emailed this to JP also at trysports as they wanted some route
info also.

Hope it's helpful!

Also here are the directions we used for our ride last time, from a friend
of mine:

Our first stop is the BP at the start of 242, as soon as you make the right
onto 242. I know it's only 35 miles into the ride, and we have tried it
with "not stopping" and stopping, typically, nature is calling by that time,
and all the morning coffee is queued up and ready to exit. I would
recommend stopping there, even if you aren't "tired".

The next stop is the BP on the left when you come to the first stoplight
after you pass the Clinton Green Sign. They took the tables and chairs out
a couple of years ago, but we still stop there. This is around 70 miles.
We do ride the bypass, and it is a 4 lane road with on ramps that you have
to navigate. But it isn't bad and there is a really wide shoulder. Make
sure you fuel up here, there are more stops now than before, but there isn't
much until you hit A B Food Mart. The next 38 miles will be pretty
desolate.

The last stop is A B Food Mart, 17311 US Highway 421, Watha, NC 28478 (it's
on google earth). This is a good stop, because they have booths and tables
to sit at, plus a full grill. The sweet tea is heaven here also. This is
right around the 100 mile mark, and you can get a weak cell signal most of
the time. From here you have 25 miles to the Wilmington bridge, and then
10 miles to Wrightsville beach. I tend to try and "eat" more at Clinton
then here, because my stomach tends to start to shut down at this point.

Once you hit the Wilmington bridge, I can't find a good route to the beach.
(And I lived there for 5 years). Some people take Market to Eastwind,
personally, I think that is too scary. I prefer to take Market to 17
street, and then make a short jog on 17 street to Wrightsville Ave. Then
take Wrightsville Ave all the way to the beach. All of these roads are
really busy.

I found this route a couple of years ago, and think it's great! I have used
this route the last couple of times. I take Ten-Ten Rd. until it dead end's
into route 50, and then take route 50 south to Benson. From Benson, I
follow this route:
