Several years ago my problem was numbness (as opposed to irritation).
I gave up my leather saddle and went for a more anatomical shaped gel saddle.
The model I have is old and no longer produced, but looking at the Perforance 
Bicycle website (www.performancebike.com) shows a number of different ones that 
are moderately priced.
