The money charged for work at a bike shop is usually done on a hourly basis. $65 per hour is on the low end of what a shop is going to charge. Before coming out here to Raleigh most of the local shops around my store where charging $75 per hour and up (that was back in '08). So $25 for 30 minutes of work or $50 for a hour worth of work on your bike is a fair price. Go to the web sites of local shops and check out what the charge is for a transmission clean.
