Hey folks,
I have to travel for work today and may not get back to Raleigh in time to make
the ride by 6 tonight. Last week we had a large number of riders show up and we
split up into 2 groups; a 20mph pace and a 19mph pace group. I think it worked
out really well. If you have another big group lets try to split up again so
everyone gets the kind of ride they want. This may give some folks the
opportunity to challenge themselves and join the first group and can fall off
to be picked up by the next group.
However, please do not join a group if you are not confident in riding in a
large fast group. We need to consider safety first and not testosterone so
please be sure you are capable of riding together in either group safely.

Just a note: I plan to wrap up my role as ride leader for the Thursday ride
pretty soon since I have already cut out most of my road riding for the season.
This is the time of season I always shift my focus more on training for the
upcoming ski season and riding the mountain bike and less on the roadie. So I
want to encourage all of you to continue to ride as long as the daylight
allows. I will let you know the date of my last ride.

Thanks to all of the riders that have participated in this ride and the many
substitute ride leaders that have filled in on my absence. This ride seems to
grow in numbers every year. I could say it was because I'm just that good of a
ride leader but I know better, the gyro's are growing in numbers and we need
more rides available like this. I plan to continue this next year. Maybe there
are a few riders that would like to share the role as ride leader so I can
start to share the responsibility and alternate Thursday nights.

Have fun tonight and have a great holiday weekend.
David
