The 2010 Road Dog Rally will start at 8:30am on 9/25 from Pleasant Union
Elementary. The route is out-and-back to Oxford on BR1, with one store break at
the turn-around point. Most of you who are familiar with this popular route
know that there's also a store in Wilton (if you need it), which is about
halfway to Oxford. It's also nice to have the white Bike Route 1 signs marking
each turn, so you shouldn't have to consult a cue sheet.

Over the years the pace (for the lead pack) on this ride has remained
consistently fast, particularly after the break. So, if you're planning to fly
away with the hammers, think in terms of A/A- on the way to Oxford and A/A+ on
the way back - and we don't grade on a curve. ;^)

Lately I've learned to enjoy a more relaxed pace and I've met a lot of new
friends on these "conversational pace" rides. What I mean by "conversational"
is something more substantial than "Ooh", "Ahh", and "Ugh". So I plan to start
about 5 minutes after the hammers and average around 18-19mph. Since the route
is relatively flat (except for the hills), I'll call it the B+ group - and I
hope that many of you will choose to join me.
