The eponymous Gyro for Rick's Ride will return to the Tuesday ride with a request.
Let's ride fast, but as a group. Let's take smart, short, efficient pulls. Let's do a negative split. (Don Paige knows what I mean.) Lastly, I would like to focus on that short stretch going up Hereford. That little stretch of road creates more problems for our ride than most of you realize. Face it guys, this stretch has only one real purpose: it is a bridge to the roads that will eventually take us back to Shady Grove. We should be using this stretch to conserve some energy by riding conservatively, and, in tight formation. There is absolutely nothing gained surging up that road...nothing. What tends to happen is those who make the turn first open a slight gap on the others, and then crank it up the hill. Once they hit Redwood, they turn and continue the hard pace. Those caught a little behind on the turn pray for traffic, and, if not, they struggle to get back on and waste valuable energy. This serves no purpose to the overall ride objective. We need to be together once we hit Redwood before cranking it up. That's it! See you all on Tuesday. Rick PS.
