G's
This area of NC has quite a few cycling clubs that raise a lot of money for various charities. Hopefully we can become one of those too. Tony and Eric and both sent information about the direction of the club. One thing we have chosen to focus on is cancer since it has touched all of us in some way. I am hoping we can do something at a local children's hospital for cancer patients. We could do small stuff.buy some books for the common area, have a pizza party for the kids, etc. I am sure if we brainstorm we can get a lot of ideas. Since I am secretary you can submit your ideas to me and I will compile them and see what can be done. The dues you will pay are not for Tony, Bert or anyone else but will be put to good uses in the community and maybe some fun. Over the years we have had teams for MS, diabetes and others that I don't know about. Donna started the Adopt-a-Highway program on Purnell and she gets a few of you to help that effort. Tony announced the "Velo4Yellow" ride. I hope people will choose to participate and help (let us know how you or a family member would to help). Finally, if you have a business or know of business that would like to advertise in our monthly newsletter please let us know. The ad will be free but we ask that the business has a monthly special for Gyro members only. If space opens up on the jersey or bib you can have first dibs on it (we charge a fee to be on these). Our goal is to provide the opportunity for cyclists of all riding abilities to join and ride with an organization that truly enjoys the sport of cycling, supports the development of cyclists at all levels and provides a means to contribute to our community. The group has grown tremendously over the years and the Gyros Cycling Club is now planning its next evolution. This plan will include putting in place membership dues, which will be a small yearly fee to support the many new improvements and exciting opportunities the club has in store. Club members will enjoy the benefits of membership through specials and discounts offered by our sponsors and friends. Membership cards will be provided which can be used at any of our sponsors to identify you as a Gyros Cycling Club member. We will also be using memberships to assist with the sponsorship of charity rides, ride series and club social events. A membership form and waiver are attached with information regarding membership fees. The group could not have gotten to where it is today without you and now we are asking for you to join the Gyros Cycling Club and participate in the growth and success of the greatest cycling club in Central North Carolina. We look forward to welcoming you into the Gyros Cycling Club and with it the many great new things to come. If you have any questions regarding club membership, feel free to send me an email. Please accept our invitation to join us on this epic ride.
