People, I don't want to keep this thing going any longer than necessary but the choice to go to an organized club seemed like the next logical step in offering, both our members and the community, greater benefits for all.
One reason for taking this step is that we have sponsors who are offering members discounts. So, who are the members if we don't have dues and a membership card? In the past, members were dictated by whether or not they were on the googlegroup. Well, that was fine initially but now with 600 people, and with 80-90% of whom I haven't seen or heard from in years, it is not fair to our sponsors to offer them specials or discounts if they really aren't Gyro members. Riding with us once a year does not make a Gyro member. Now, you may agree or disagree with our decision to become a due paying membership. You also have the option of joining us or not joining us. That is your choice. I would hope that you have all enjoyed what we have offered to you in the past and that becoming a due paying member will be an easy decision for you make. It is now time to take the next step. One more thing I'd like to make clear and to add to Bert's post earlier. I know for some of you, there is a concern about our new race team. Let me state that the race team will have absolutely nothing to do with the club. Think of it as two separate businesses that happen to operate under the same Gyro umbrella. Each one will have their own special needs and sponsors. Neither will support the other, in terms of, money being shared. They are and always will be separate from one another. I hope that is now clear to everyone. Again, please post your questions or concerns to your officers and not to the club. Thanks to all of you who have joined to date. We appreciate your support.
