G-Men & Women,

 

Good news on 2 fronts.  

 

First, weather is finally going to be perfect this weekend so get out and
ride.  

 

Secondly, we are happy to announce the addition of a mountain bike ride on
Monday nights.  Yes, you heard me right.  A mountain bike ride.  We have
never offered this venue before so it is really exciting news and a welcome
addition to our stable of road rides.  For those of you that are interested,
please see the details below.

 

 

Rides for the week of 4/30:

 

SATURDAY RIDE (4/30)

(A GROUP - Tony & Bert)   

MEETING PLACE:   Pleasant Union Elementary School  (Directions:

TIME:  Saturday 4/30 @ 8:30am 

RIDE DISTANCE:  62 miles 

PACE:  19-21mph

NOTES:  There will be hills where the climbers will be allowed to stretch
their legs.

OTHER NOTES:  This one is important - WE RIDE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP.


We encourage county line sprints. 

We DO NOT wait for dropped riders so look at the map and/or cue sheets to
figure out where you are.  

We DO stop for mechanicals.

DISTANCE: 30 miles 

ROUTE:  TBD 
PACE: 14-16mph - No drop but you MUST be able to maintain the minimum pace.

 

 

 

MONDAY RIDE (5/2): 

 

Hal's Ride 

MEETING PLACE:  Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads
TIME: Monday 5/2 @ 5:45pm      
DISTANCE: 25-30 miles

PACE:  18-20mph 

ROUTE:  TBD 
NOTES:  Since Hal is no longer leading this ride, it will be same pace and
distance as last year.  At times, Andy and/or Hardy would show up and lead
but that is not a given.  It is up to whoever shows up to decide what they
will want to do.

 

NEW!  TBOR (Trek Bicycles of Raleigh) Mountain Bike Ride

MEETING PLACE:  Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads
TIME: Monday 5/2 @ 6pm      
DISTANCE: 1.5 hours

ROUTE:  Durant Park Trails & Landfill Trails

PACE:  The pace will be determined on each ride by the group but this IS a
BEGINNER/NOVICE Ride - NO DROP
NOTES:  To build skill and confidence on a mountain bike.  This is not a
"Max Heartrate" ride.

TUESDAY RIDE (5/3):

 

Rick's FAST EVENING RIDE (Smith & Claude will now be leading this ride)

MEETING PLACE: Shady Grove Church

TIME: Tuesday 5/3 @ 5:45pm SHARP

DISTANCE: 29 miles

PACE: 22+

Neutral Zone at start and finish to let everyone at least get a little warm
up: Neutral zones ends and starts when we cross Olive Branch Rd.

(Distance will lengthen when there is more light) The differences from last
year is that the loop at the top is clockwise.

NOTES:  The goal is to work as a group for a fast group ride, we will not
wait for dropped riders.

Key point - ride fast, but safe.  

 

Grey's Ride 

MEETING PLACE:  Shady Grove Church
TIME: Tuesday 5/3 @ 5:45pm      
DISTANCE: 29 miles

PACE:  18-19mph

NOTES:  This course is the "reverse" of Smith & Claude's ride above.

 

 

WEDNESDAY (5/4):

 

Andy's Training Ride 

MEETING PLACE:  St Francis of Assisi Church (Directions:

TIME: Wednesday 5/4 @ 5:45pm      
DISTANCE: 25-30 miles

PACE:  20-21mph CONTROLLED

ROUTE: Will change with available daylight

NOTES:  Work with riders to build consistent effort and paceline rotations.

 

 

 

THURSDAY RIDE (5/5): 

 

Tony's Ride 

MEETING PLACE: Shady Grove Church (Corner of Carpenter Pond & Shady Grove
Roads)

Dave R's Ride

MEETING PLACE:  Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads
TIME: Thursday 5/5 @ 5:45pm      
DISTANCE: 25-32 miles

PACE:  17-18mph

ROUTE:  Same as the Monday night ride and same as last year

NOTES:  In the event that Dave can't make the ride, we are asking that
someone step up to assist in the lead.
