New Belgium will return to Durham in 2012 with a fun-filled day of biking festivities! Tour de Fat will be held at the American Tobacco Campus on Saturday, June 23, from 10 am to 4 pm. There are a lot of kid-friendly activities at this event. Admission is free, fundraising is through beer, food, and merchandise sales.
This year's Durham event will once again benefit the following cycling related groups: NC Active Transportation Alliance Triangle Spokes Durham Bike Co-op Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission These groups have been asked to recruit volunteers to serve beverages (beer), staff the merchandise table, assist in the bike parade, and staff the valet bike parking station. Volunteers do get a reward! If your work schedule allows you to do setup work Thursday afternoon, that would be very welcome! Additional volunteers are needed for the Durham event. You can sign up to volunteer for the duty/shift you prefer at http://ncactive.org/content/tour-de-fat-2012-volunteer-signup For additional information, see press releases at http://www.craftbeercollective.com/news/2012/04/tour-de-fat-durham-route-map/ and http://durhamnewsservicemainfeed.blogspot.com/2012/03/new-belgiums-tour-de-fat-returns-to.html .
