There is that, and perhaps a color change on the borders.

You could always layer your ribbon--one color in the middle and 2 edge pieces, to

Subject: [h-cost] Velvet ribbon

I spent a happy evening looking at vintage rayon velvet ribbon on Etsy.
I was mostly seeing 5/8", 7/8"-1", and 2". And in one case 2 1/2". I
was hoping for about 1 1/4" but I guess I will need to be satisfied with
1" for my buckle chokers. I did get some 2" for millinery use. Someone
on the list wanted 3" velvet ribbon to bind a blanket. I'm not saying
it doesn't exist, and also I was only looking in the vintage Etsy
channel. But I didn't see any. For a binding, velvet fabric with the
edges turned under should work. I have rebound blankets with satin and I
didn't even cut it on the bias, because blankets are all straight edges.
Even if you have rounded corners you can work a straight fabric into
place there with a little judicious gathering and steaming.
