Hi All,
I'm doing a waistline alterations on a dress (sorry. no picture) where I
need to alter the bodice 5 inches around at the waist. The skirt is gathered
2.25 inches into every 1 inch at the waist. When I expand the waist do I
expand the skirt an equal number of inches, thus decreasing my gather ratio, or
do I add 2.25 inches to the skirt panels for every inch I add at the waist? I
don't usually add this much to a waistline and the skirt fabric is really thin
so I don't want to just decrease the ratio of skirt gathers at the waist. My
basic grading textbook doesn't address this particular alteration. Thanks.
