Hi Cate,

Thanks for reminding us that h-costume is alive. And thanks for starting
this conversation.

I followed along with the Burnley & Trowbridge YouTube sew alongs for the
petticoat and shift and made them both all by hand. I'd done a lot of hand
sewing before - and have sewn several Elizabethan and Victorian chemises
and 18C petticoats and pockets before - but none completely handsewn. It
was satisfying to do it but I'm not that HA. I've done them once and can
move on. I saw the B&T bedgown and decided I didn't like it enough to make
one but am going to make another petticoat, calf-length to wear on the
street.

I've finished some 19-teens and 1920s WIPs, a walking skirt and some modern
tee-shirts. I've sewn three other projects to the muslin point but I need
help in fitting; as hard as I try I can't fit myself. I'm going to see a
friend next week and hope to have her tweak the muslins for me so I can
make them up- not something you can do social distancing or on face-time.

I've also rediscovered embroidery and blackwork. I used to do both years
ago and it's been fun to relearn and make pretty things again.

Keep sewing; I know it helps keep me sane.
