My husband bought me the Historic Enterprises sewing kit for Christmas a few
years ago. The box is attractive, but you need a cotter (sp?) pin to keep it
closed. I couldn't get the scissors to even cut thread. They told me at
Pennsic when I went to exchange them that you "had to hold them a certain way"
that I never got the hang of. Fortunately they finally accepted them in
exchange. The best thing in the box is the ring thimble. I have bought
several of
those and keep them in the various places I sew. Theirs is the most
comfortable
one that I've found. My brain reads wearing a modern thimble as though
there's an injury to that finger, so it shouldn't be used. The ring thimble is
the
first one I've ever managed to use on a regular basis.
