I hadn't considered the other because it looked too costumish at first glance. Looking again though and the shirts might be ok. Would a highlander find much use for those big, belled sleeves though? Anything with a Celtic or Irish flavor would be ok too.

Ah, had to relook at the image of #8913 to see what you mean by the sleeves. And yes, the outfit in general is rather costumish, especially without a decent doublet on, but I think it came out originally sometime when Braveheart and Rob Roy were such big movies.

I think they are trying to vaguely imitate the big sleeves of the "Irish" leine, which is commonly seen in ren faires today. Although most of the leine sleeves are made with the front sewn mostly shut so it acts as a carrying bag as well. There are issues and comments and disagreements with how big the leine sleeves really should be, but they are popular. I've seen one guy pull out an entire silver tea set, with tray (but not liquid), in his really huge leine sleeves.

If you wanted to, you could gather the ends of the sleeves into a simple cuff instead, and the sleeves would be very puffy. Some people like that look.
