Ok, I have to ask. Could you have a spot where people put up their
worst creations? I ask because I got suckered into making a dress for
a friend. ("What do you want for your birthday?" I asked. "Would you
sew me a new dress for SCA?" she said with big doe eyes. "I have the
velvet fabric for the dress and cotton for the lining and the pattern
already.")

Since her mother was a sewer I asked my friend to go ahead and have
her mother cut out the fabric. I have never had such a fiasco in my
life -- instead of letting her mother help her she decided to do it
herself. The velvet ended up being two different fabrics -- corduroy
and stretch velvet. The lining was a flimsy cotton. The pattern was
Halloween chic in its correctness. The problem (other than my
aesthetic sensibilities being smashed) was that none of the pieces
truly matched up. I have seen small children do better cutting. Over
one night (yes that means 7:00 in the evening to 4:00 the next morning
-- we were going to an SCA event the next day) I forced the pieces to
fit together. Overall the only place that I did not force to match up
was the back above the zipper (it was the first time I ever put in a
zipper) was slightly off. I used some holiday trim I was going to use
on wreaths that I used to cover up some of the mistakes. We went to
the event and I wanted to hide ever time she told anyone that I made
the dress.

If there was a place to put your worst creation, I would love to put
this one.
Jonica
