I made several of these skirts in the 70s when they were first (?) popular from a Vogue pattern. I don't know the formula for the gatherings, but I DO remember that each tier was wider than the one above it to give a nicer proportion - not by much, maybe 1-3" - but definitely wider. Maybe tier 2 was +1", tier 3 was +2", tier 4 was +3".... This would probably depend on how tall/round you are and how much your fabric would drape. LynnD
