Hello all.
I havn't posted to this board in a very long time, but I am
seriously hoping someone has some insight they could share.

I'm working on the 1891 straight-front corset, which is supposed to
come out to 35" bust, and 24" waist, with the typical 5/8" seam
allowance drawn into each piece. It's supposedly an original from
Harper's Bazaar, not sized up. (It appears the maker has re-drawn
this pattern to make it multi sized since I purchased it, but this
one is "the original").
However, once putting it together in a muslin, it comes out more
like 42" bust, and 30" waist, with typical lengths to front, back and side.
Not to mention that with the slope of the breast area, I would need
at *least* a D-cup to even start filling it out.
Does anyone know whether this pattern maker has mis-quoted the seam
allowances vastly or done something else wacky I've not considered
yet?? I'm confused -- the narrower pieces don't look like they
could be taken in any more, or they would be less than 1/4" wide, finished!
If nobody has any idea about my issue with the older version of the
pattern, perhaps someone would know about the current one? Perhaps
even quirks and tricks about this maker's corset patterns in
general? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Confuzzled,
K
Have you put in the boning yet? The boning will take it in quite a bit.
