I remember seeing once upon a time a medium green jacket with a dark red waistcoat. It had something to do with christmas but I can't say for sure of the date of the print.

I have not seen, that I remember, any fashion plates showing a darker waistcoat. Nor any complete suits with darker waistcoats. But we don't know for sure. Maybe someone did wear it like that because, like you, he had a superb waistcoat to show off.
