I was suggesting patterns to Dawn.
The first one does come close. I am in the planning stages with this one.
The lining will be black satin with a red semi opaque material with black
flocked(?) tendril design for the outer part. Trying to decide whether to
have the vee at the collar the red with a black satin insert or a black
satin vee with red insert. It's been a loooong while since I created sleeves
for a sleeveless dress pattern.
Anyway, the McCall's as I said is a weak design for the 20's but has
elements akin to Erte'.
The butterick is similar to a dress from a late 20s fashion plate. (Sorry,
don't have a URL, was just working on a design more then looking to make it
authentic) The underdress in the plate was a bit shorter and the sleeves
were slightly different.
The last Vogue has darts in the overdress and zipper in the back which I
have yet to see in a 20s era dress. The underdress is great.

If you are looking at the 1920s, The first Vogue pattern conforms best for
the necessary hipline, which should "touch" but not necessarily bind or
reveal. The other two have some of the elements of the design but are too
retro and use far more fabric than the simplicity and economy of line that
is more faithful to the era.
