Most of my husbands family lives in Eastern Montreal and that is where he used to live. You have such a choice of fabrics at wonderful prices. We have a Fabricland and Walmart for a population 100,000 people. Vancouver has about the same selection except for little india. I buy most of my fabric from Walmart, second-hand stores or off the internet. We all know that we can get cheaper fabric on the internet but shipping to Canada can be $17.+. I ordered Linen 10 yds. from an online stores once and by the time I got it I paid $10. a yd. for what turned out to be junk. I love sellers that say it's linen and they are selling cotton. I don't buy linen now unless I can see it and feel it. Edith

Take out lunch isn't chinese or pizza it's hot dogs. Uh, well. Not true of everyone. IMHO, most of those hot-dogs they sell for 1$ don't qualify as food, although some people seem to think they do :-) But if you want real hot dogs for 1$, you have to go to Montreal Pool Room (1200 St-Laurent). It's THE hot-dog place. Me, I hate cheap hot dogs. There's lots of 1$ pizza places. Don't be afraid to take advantage of them. And lots of cheap Chinese/Thai places.
